Rainbow Retirement Day: Celebrating Pride, Planning for the Future
On Tuesday, 1st July, the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington will host Rainbow Retirement Day. This is a free event co-organised by Age UK Richmond and the Landmark Arts Centre. Running from 11am to 4pm, the day invites the LGBTQ+ community to explore essential topics around later-life planning in an inclusive, celebratory space.
The event will feature a range of expert-led sessions on important topics such as wills, powers of attorney, care homes, and LGBTQ+ history, each designed to provide clarity, reassurance, and practical support. You’ll have a chance to ask questions, gain valuable insights, and make informed choices for the future.
Nigel George from Garner & Hancock Solicitors will be attending throughout the day, offering tailored legal support and guidance. In our upcoming session, we will delve into the essential topic of Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA). This legal tool is particularly important for same-sex partners, as it ensures that their rights, preferences, and the well-being of their loved ones are safeguarded. We will explore the different types of LPAs, the process of setting them up, and the specific benefits they can provide to same-sex couples in times of crisis. Join us to gain valuable insights into how LPAs can help empower you and your partner to make informed decisions about healthcare and financial matters, ensuring your wishes are respected and upheld. In addition, our legal team will be available for one-to-one conversations, resources, and advice during the event.
Whether you’re taking early steps to plan for your future, managing care for someone close to you, or simply want to connect with others in the community, Rainbow Retirement Day promises conversation, connection, and clarity.
Admission is free, but places are limited – book now at www.landmarkartscentre.org or email wellbeing@ageukrichmond.org.uk to reserve your spot.
