Nigel George is celebrating 40 years in legal practice
Nigel is celebrating his 40th year of being a solicitor. His legal career has taken him from the Black Country in the West Midlands to the City of London, Greenwich, Suffolk and back to London again with Garner & Hancock Solicitors where he has been a Director and Head of Life Planning for the last five years. He is also a fully accredited member of STEP which makes him one of the most qualified practitioners in his area of law.
When asked what has kept him going in the profession for 40 years Nigel said “It’s all about the people. Both those I worked with and those I worked for. Helping a client who has a problem and help them solve it is what keeps me going. That look of relief that you can see on a client’s face when you say to them, don’t worry, I will deal with it.”
As well as working for clients, Nigel also spends a lot of time working with Garner & Hancock’s paralegals and trainees passing on his experience. He puts emphasis on clear and understandable communication with clients.
His varied activities include setting up a monthly telephone advice session for clients of the Mulberry Centre, a cancer information and support centre based at West Middlesex Hospital He recently became a Trustee of the Mulberry Centre. He has also been Dementia Champion, under the Dementia Friends programme.
Whilst away from the office, Nigel lives between Isleworth and Suffolk. He shares life’s ups and downs with his wife, Rebecca, daughters, and their very bouncy Labrador, Roly. Nigel also likes to put pen to paper; he has written a legal comedy thriller called Money, Death, Chainsaws and Curry. His next novel is currently underway. He has a great love of food and cooking, Italian pork casserole and Singapore noodles are two of his signature dishes.
