Update on Probate Fees



In April 2017, we reported on government’s  plans to increase of the probate fees. Much has changed since then. The Prime Minister has called a general election, which will take place in June this year. Reports suggest that the proposal to increase the probate fees has been put on ice for now. We will update you if and when a new government minister starts defrosting the idea of taxing estates thousands of pounds on Grant of Probate applications.

We welcome James Hadley, a senior private client solicitor who now heads up the department joins 4 other partners at Garner & Hancock.

James has a wealth of experience in advising in wills, tax planning and probate. He was previously a partner at a firm in the North of England and has now moved to North London.

Traditional Christmas Carols at Garner & Hancock’s annual party

The Salvation Army band led the carols introduced by the Rev Ginny Luckett of the All Saints Church in Old Isleworth.

Attended by Ruth Cadbury MP and local councillor Ed Maine, the evening was an eventful end to the year.

Every year Garner & Hancock chooses a charity to donate at Christmas. This year a donation of £100 was made to the React Charity

“Rapid Effective Assistance for Children with Potentially Terminal illness is a charity working to improve the quality of life for children with life-limiting illnesses living in financially disadvantaged households throughout the UK”
